Welcome. My name is Ashley Lojko and this is just one of my many homes on the web. I’m a 20′s-something native Bostonian who has a sarcastic sense of humor, enormous amounts of energy and the need to constantly tweet, blog, stumble, like, and pin.
Working in the online space is definitely a constant whirlwind of activity that never ceases. I have the curse of an iPhone, a laptop and an iPad. Do I really need all three pieces of technology always with me? This comic from the Oatmeal kind of sums it up well.
It’s amazing to see how far the web has come since I started blogging back in 2002. It was my junior year in high school and LiveJournal was all the rage. I had a close network of friends who constantly shared their stories and kept a conversation going round and round. Blogs have taken a completely different form in the years that have past. What was once a tool for creating an online diary has become a tool for SEO, advertising, opinion sharing, bitching about brands and “getting yourself out there”.
I write a cooking blog called Cooking For One that I update as regularly as I can. It’s full of my favorite recipes that are catered to the person who is cooking for themselves (or in my case a vegetarian, so I often make 2 different single serving dishes!). I’ve discovered a great community of food bloggers in the Boston area who love cooking and writing about it as much as I do. Check out Boston Food Bloggers if you haven’t!
Other things about me you might find interesting….
Here is a link to my resume on LinkedIn (Just in case you wanted to stalk me a bit).
I have a really fat Maine Coon cat named Tobey. He has his own Twitter feed where my roommates and I post all kinds of funny photos, tweets and videos.
Ashkalei Online Marketing is my freelance company. By day I work at an agency called One Pica as an Account and Marketing Manager. We’re a fun group of young people who enjoy the city, keeping things fun in the office, and work hard. We even have a flying fish in the office named “Flyin’ Bryan.” (Seriously…you can see here). By night I am a creative freelancer who loves to dive into a new, fresh online project.
I love electronic dance music – even before it was it’s own genre. My first introduction to it was the Hackers soundtrack back in the mid-90s. I’ve been a fan girl ever since, even if it’s gone mainstream at this point.
That’s probably more than you wanted to know, but there you have it. Hopefully you weren’t too bored reading it. :)
